Introduction

The Electronic Commerce Resource Center (ECRC) located in Kitsap County, Bremerton, WA, is a prominent regional business resource. It serves a region of 8 Northwest states: Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota. The ECRC provides assistance primarily to small and medium size businesses, government, large companies, and education and training providers, to encourage their use of information technologies and electronic commerce. The ECRC provides services through Outreach, Education & Training, and Technical Support Activities. Most of these services are free to organizations throughout the 8-state region.

The ECRC is linked to a well-established national network of technology expertise. It is operated by Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) from Johnstown, PA, The Economic Development Council (EDC) of Kitsap County, and Olympic College in Bremerton, WA.

Mission & Services

The ECRC mission is to assist in understanding and implementing electronic commerce practices. These practices range from e-mail to buying and selling, to full integration of design, manufacturing, finance, inventory control, distribution and maintenance.

The facility in Bremerton, WA offers technology demonstrations and training seminars. Services include outreach seminars, conferences, and technical support. The ECRC has separate contracts (delivery orders) with the federal government or work in progress. A visit to Bremerton will provide you with access to experts and view how to exchange information electronically among your trading partners.

Ask about the capability to seek and respond to request for bids, find and qualify suppliers, collaborative product design, complete financial transactions, and research technical and business issues. The Center's leadership consists of experienced business and process engineers and managers who are skilled in analysis, problem solving, planning, and implementation.

The purpose of the Center is to accelerate the use of electronic commerce. Without a significant commitment to U.S. competitiveness we will fall behind the rest of the world, thus decreasing our job base in quality and quantity. This philosophy embraces an agenda and a commitment to continuous improvement to prosper in the competitive environment of the global economy.

The Electronic Commerce Resource Center will only accomplish its goals through coalescing and networking with other valuable regional and national resources. The business and technology requirements of our clients are paramount in designing solutions to meet the quest for competitive advantage. If you are not in front of the pack, are you falling behind_ How do you measure up_

Adoption of fully integrated electronic commerce is a strategy that offers huge advantages to businesses and government. Mastering appropriate business processes and technology will improve your ability to compete. The market is rapidly changing. Increasingly, integrated communication between trading partners (your customer, seller, banker, engineer, suppliers, etc.) is being requested or demanded. Just as the personal computer and the fax machine have become business staples, so will additional electronic commerce technologies. Modems and EDI software to send and receive data, images and drawings are basic requirements in today's market. The better you are able to communicate with those you do business with the more business you will have.

Working smarter, not harder, typifies the Electronic Commerce Resource Center's goal to assist industry and government in adopting technologies within their operations that will improve efficiency, increase quality, reduce time, and lower costs. You can achieve enormous savings through the ability to enter data only once, share it, and use it many times. Only partial benefits are realized through your ability to communicate electronically if your trading partners are unable to communicate with you. Documents transmitted in hard copy, which must be re-keyed, is money wasted. To optimize the benefits from an electronic commerce strategy, improve your capabilities and integrate and match up capabilities with those of your trading partners. Call us to start today for seminars, courses, consultation or technical support.
