Each year, in the United States and in other countries, there are a lot of children who are abused by people who are supposed to be loving them and caring for them. They can’t defend themselves because they are small and weaker than the adults. Often, they don’t feel as though they have the right to complain, say anything, or strike back. With that in mind, it’s important that people help out these children when they can, by giving to organizations that help needy and abused children and by reporting abuse when they see it or even when they just honestly suspect it.
Eventually, if more and more people step up and do something, there will be a lot less child abuse. It’s likely not possible to eradicate all of it, but even stopping a lot of it would be a real blessing to abused children who are struggling and who think that no one cares about what they’re going through. There are plenty of people who care, but many of them just don’t want to get involved in anything. They don’t think the little bit they can do will make a difference, and they don’t think that reporting someone is the way to go. What if they’re wrong? Then they’ll get someone into trouble for no reason.
That is a small risk, of course, but you can usually tell when something just isn’t right and a child is being abused. Go with your gut instinct when it comes to making that kind of report. In the meantime, there are plenty of things you can do to help children who need to get away from abusive parents or other caretakers. By giving of your money and your time, you can make a difference in the lives of a lot of children.
